Remote Cost Accountant

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturing firm with a global presence, is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team in a fully remote capacity. This role is critical for analyzing and optimizing production costs, implementing effective costing systems, and providing essential data for strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles, coupled with the ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively in a virtual environment. Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and analyze standard cost systems. Calculate and report on product costs, variances, and inventory valuation. Assist in the annual budget process and ongoing forecasting of manufacturing costs. Implement and refine cost accounting procedures and internal controls. Analyze manufacturing variances and recommend corrective actions. Support operational management with cost analysis and efficiency improvement initiatives. Prepare reports on cost of goods sold, labor, and overhead. Collaborate with cross-functional teams remotely to ensure accurate data flow and reporting.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CMA certification is a strong plus. Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment. In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles, methods, and systems (e.g., activity-based costing). Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration. Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain productivity in a fully remote setting. Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements in cost management.
