[Remote] IBM PD Migration Consultant

Aptino, Inc. is seeking an experienced IBM PD Migration Consultant to lead and support the migration, upgrade, and modernization of IBM Problem Determination Tools environments on IBM z/OS platforms. The role involves assessing existing environments, designing migration strategies, executing tool upgrades, and collaborating with various teams to minimize business disruption.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations of IBM Problem Determination Tools across z/OS environments
- Analyze existing tool configurations and dependencies to develop migration strategies
- Install, configure, upgrade, and validate IBM PD Tools components
- Migrate and verify settings, repositories, user configurations, and operational procedures
- Perform impact assessments and compatibility analysis for new releases and system upgrades
- Develop migration runbooks, technical documentation, and rollback procedures
- Troubleshoot migration-related issues and provide root cause analysis
- Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, and operations teams during migration activities
- Conduct testing, validation, and post-migration health checks
- Support performance tuning and optimization activities
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security policies, and change management processes
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to support and operations teams
Skills
- Strong experience with IBM Problem Determination (PD) Tools, including: Fault Analyzer, Debug Tool, Application Performance Analyzer, File Manager, Workload Simulator (if applicable)
- Experience with IBM z/OS environments
- Knowledge of: JCL, ISPF, TSO, SMP/E, RACF, CICS, DB2, IMS
- Experience with mainframe software installation and maintenance
- Understanding of migration methodologies, release management, and change control processes
- Ability to analyze logs, dumps, traces, and diagnostic data
