[Remote] Staff Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The RealReal is the world’s largest online marketplace for authenticated, resale luxury goods. They are looking for a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer to enhance and optimize their Sales & Retail platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build robust technical solutions that support sales associates and improve customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of software solutions, making strategic decisions that influence our technical direction
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align technology development with business objectives, effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Perform rigorous code reviews and advocate for best coding practices to ensure our products are efficient and maintainable
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and contributing to a culture of excellence
- Research emerging technologies and trends in software engineering, identifying opportunities to enhance our projects and processes
- Address complex technical challenges with innovative solutions, anticipating potential issues to ensure smooth project execution
Skills
- At least 8 years of software development experience
- Required experience with Java and Ruby
- Proven experience with the development, scaling, and maintenance of distributed systems
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, architectural design, and agile development methodologies
- Excellent analytical abilities and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to work independently on complex issues
- Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and concisely
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of software development experience with a track record of successfully shipping consumer or business facing products
- Experience with Elixir is a plus
- Familiarity with Front-end JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, etc.)
- Familiarity with Gradle and Spring Boot
- Familiarity with Python
- Familiarity with AWS
- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio
