[Remote] Staff Software Engineer

They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to solve complex technical challenges, focusing on system design, production engineering, and technical leadership while shaping the architecture of a rapidly scaling system.
Responsibilities
- Design and build foundational backend systems and services
- Lead complex technical projects from concept to production
- Diagnose and resolve challenging issues around scale, consistency, and performance
- Drive architectural decisions through hands-on implementation
- Establish best practices for distributed systems, APIs, and data ownership
- Partner closely with engineering teams to guide large-scale refactors and platform evolution
- Mentor senior engineers and raise the overall technical bar
Skills
- 8+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems
- Strong background in distributed systems and high-throughput architectures
- Experience evolving monoliths into service-oriented or microservice architectures
- Deep understanding of system design, performance, and reliability
- Experience designing secure systems (auth, identity, access control)
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and making high-impact technical decisions
- Strong communicator with a collaborative, hands-on mindset
- Experience with modern backend stacks (TypeScript/Node.js)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure
- Experience building internal platforms or developer tooling
